Hope Has Faded…

…at least on the stickers

Hope Has Faded. At least the bumper sticker ink did.

People will do what they do. Some will assume that this page and image are a political commentary. Whatever… this American voted neither for Barack Obama nor John McCain (i’m a Libertarian… patiently waiting for the rest of you to get on board. )

My intent is nothing more than to point out that sometimes there are unintended consequences. The red ink on these stickers started fading quickly, in some cases within a year or so of President Obama taking office. I wonder whether anyone anticipated the consequences of the stickers fading faster than (some might say as fast as) the diminution of hope amongst (some) citizens during the course of Mr. Obama’s (first?) term? Somewhere, someone has or will make something of the fact that it is the red ink which faded, and how that may tie to rejection of the “red” party: the Republicans… but the blue ink, usually representing Democrats, stays strong. I make no such claim… red is simply one of the printing process ink colors which fades most quickly and often in sunlight.

Too bad whomever made the stickers didn’t think ahead and either choose a longer-lived red ink, or a shorter-lived sticky backing!
